About Me
My name is Lindsey Miga, I'm currently a freshman at Stonehill College, but before that I was a student at EGHS. For my Senior Project I've been learning about Mental Health in my community. Throughout my project I have learned a lot, and I wanted to make my personal findings available to a larger audience...so here I am.
Learning how to maintain my own mental health has been an enormous challenge throughout my life, and I want to continue to help others find their own way. There is no one solution to stress, anxiety, depression, or any challenge we face, it's all about finding what works for you. I hope something here can help you on your own journey, the way it helped me on mine.
Project Mission
When I first started my project my mentor shared this story with me:
"One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf.
Then, smiling at the man, he said…..“I made a difference for that one.”
This story personally resonated with me, and I decided that if my project could help even one starfish then it was worth it. So welcome my starfish, let's see what we can do.
